What to expect when having your kidneys checked during one of our screenings:

  1. Process takes 15 minutes.
  2. We take your blood pressure and ask for a urine sample to screen for proteinuria. For further information about this process review our what is a urine protein (albumin) test?
  3. Patient receives results onsite and is asked a few questions pertaining to their health literacy. Depending on results, patient may be advised to follow up with their primary care physician or a nephrologist. If patient doesn’t have a provider, information will be given onsite.

Patient Instructions:

  • Face mask recommended
  • Do not bring any unnecessary personal belongings.
  • Be sure to free your upper arms with minimal clothing.
  • Do not bring any additional persons.
  • Perform hand hygiene immediately before and after adjusting your face covering.
  • Discontinue any protein supplements 3-4 days prior to your appointment.
  • Drink plenty of water prior to and the day of your appointment
  • 30 Minutes prior to your appointment …
    • No smoking
    • No alcohol
    • No caffeinated beverages
    • No exercise
    • Arrive on time for your appointment (Do not arrive too early or late)
