What to expect when having your kidneys checked during one of our screenings:
- Process takes 15 minutes.
- We take your blood pressure and ask for a urine sample to screen for proteinuria. For further information about this process review our what is a urine protein (albumin) test?
- Patient receives results onsite and is asked a few questions pertaining to their health literacy. Depending on results, patient may be advised to follow up with their primary care physician or a nephrologist. If patient doesn’t have a provider, information will be given onsite.
Patient Instructions:
- Face mask recommended
- Do not bring any unnecessary personal belongings.
- Be sure to free your upper arms with minimal clothing.
- Do not bring any additional persons.
- Perform hand hygiene immediately before and after adjusting your face covering.
- Discontinue any protein supplements 3-4 days prior to your appointment.
- Drink plenty of water prior to and the day of your appointment
- 30 Minutes prior to your appointment …
- No smoking
- No alcohol
- No caffeinated beverages
- No exercise
- Arrive on time for your appointment (Do not arrive too early or late)
